Thinking of changing from the 175 iron barrel, in hope of more grunt, question is with a budget of around £500.
Should I change the case to a 200cc job, and follow that route, or spend the cash on a Mugello 186 or similar?
If this route is followed should I stick with standard 58mm rod or 60mm and packer?
Asking, as I will also have to allow for a race crank, with the change over to handle the extra power.
Plan on keeping the 42mm clubman and 22mm reamed Jetex 25.4mm?
What would you advice on the budget I have, dont mind getting stuck in and did my own porting on the 175.
Cheers Rick

Is it a TV175 barrel or just a kit? TV`s have bigger transfers. If it were me,id do an old Suzi 185 conversion. If you look at the smallblock dyno shootout in scootering,it had the widest power curve of all that were tested (if i remember correctly) and that was using a 22mm through the airbox.I had a 30mm on mine and it was brilliant and wasnt expensive to do but that was a few years ago.You will need to get the barrel machined though as some good proper porting.

That was mine ONCE, It cost £24 for the piston about £15 ish for the re bore at Newtons in south street, Skimmed head off TZR Steve (a Freebee, Thanks Steve) I ported the barrel over two evenings, it cost me about £20 in consumables doing the barrel, and I cut up a Sito 32mm standard exhaust to make a 42mm Clubman with a couple of internal modifications. The barrel once had a 30 dellorto on and it went very well, but it was detuned and then lightly over geared to stop it over reving and blowing the big end. It was a genuine TV 175 barrel bored to 64mm and it ran a Suzuki TS185 ERN piston, I tried it with a center plug head and an off set head. When it was detuned the off set head was fitted. and a second exhaust made with less done to it than the first. It was Dynoed in its detuned state with the 22mm dellorto standard air box and filter. It was a nice scooter to ride.

without knowing UK prices, what about the Casa kit. A few happy punters with them over here in OZ.

Casa, Mugello,Imola, Gran.T all have thier own spec to offer, but which do I go for, or would the cash be better spent on a new case and the opportunity of increased cc's.???
Come on guys give us your input and thoughts/experiences.
Rick.

I've given you a little input on the way to increase cc and power, the cost to do the 190 was about £100 when I did mine. Speed was a genuine 60+ cruising with the ability to top 70 mph in the right conditions.
Cost of Parts was piston rebore machine barrel modifie exhaust and fit a skimmed head to suit the Suzuki.
And with a Dyno sheet printed in Scootering the gain over a standard can be seen.

£ verses BHP a good cheap reliable option for a small block. Fit a big carb 28/30 mm and an expansion even more power will be found.

They are good kits,i had one years ago and was bulletproof.Had a 30mm and a 44mm RS bigbore and it would rev its little tits off and it loved it.Could still pull 2 up with 4.8 ratio so was ideal.Regret selling it now.

ricko, everyone has their own preferance, mine is big cc with a lower tune so i would go with a casing change and an indian barrel bored to 70mm with a 61mm mec crank. a bit of a tidy up with a 24mm mikuni or keihin copy as they are good value and a clubman if you dont have one already. i like the feel of a big single, my choice.

or my choice of small block kit is the gt190 kt or mugello 190 but you will still need the crank and carb so it will blow the budget.

Virtually all the current quality kits with race crank will just about use up your £500.
As others have said go the Suzuki route ...... bore it to 64mm £25, reprofile head £25, get a Suzuki piston £40-£50, MEC TV race crank £100 and send the lot to Mick Abbey to weave some magic on. Should come in way under your budget.
Plan on doing the same when I can get around to getting a Yam 115 rod put in a SIL crank.
