is there a commonly used regulator rectifier that will turn my lighting circuit to dc?
ive managed to convert my series 1 to all led s but they are brighter on dc so i want to do a simple conversion.
i know the dukati one has the second out put that is dc, is this rated the same as the ac side wattage wise? and is there a better option? dc ligting plus a sat nav charger woul be good

are you fitting a battery ?
the Ducati vespa 5-pin units won't give out enough DC on their own to run lights.
you'd be looking at a wassell one to do that, then you'll need to do the slight mod to the stator

Beat me to it
Running one on my scoot with a BGM modified with modified earth (as Byron mentioned) and it's been great.

ok, ive found this too
BRIDGE RECTIFIER
The bridge rectifier shown here replaces the lucas finned rectifiers fitted to British bikes from the 1950s to the late 1970 and will suit all models 6/12V fitted with an alternator except the later electric start Triumphs and Nortons.
The older Lucas rectifiers needed fins to disipate the heat generated, these are more efficient in rectifing all the current so need no finning and supply more current to the battery. Easy to connect, can be supplied with wiring instructions. Rated up to 25A £4.95 Pt.no.REC001
Dimensions are 30MM x 30MM x 23MM
this wired after the ducati regulator should do the job shouldnt it?
out of interest whats the earth malarkey change on the stator about?

To get full wave rectification the stator needs isolating from earth, which is why that rectifier will not work in conjunction with the AC regulator.

so you wire the stator to have a wired earth to the r/r?

Adding the new wire means there is no earth on tha AC side of the R/R, only the DC side is earthed.
