Last week i helped a mate fit one of the new muggy 186s, we did nothing special to it [dont know how TBH] just opened up the transfers on the caseing to match barral, opened the inlet to match his manifold, same with the exhaust but polished, did nothing to the ports into the barral. He,s got a 30mm Spaco [open mouthed] and a PM25 on it, went with him to see it dyno,d yesterday, this is the bit i find hard to believe, 19.3 HP, 14.7 ftlbs tourqe
, i did mention that the dyno may be reading slightly high
but was told its been callibrated and he,d done a sorted TS1 that morning 22 BHP [nearer the mark] but even if the dyno was reading slightly high, still very impressive, i,ve rode the bike and it,ll absolutly blind are lass,s 200 muggy.
whos dyno? my old ported ts1 was the same but with a bit more torque so that is impressive. shame the 225 muggy is not to the sdame standard, cant see why they neglected the 225

It was the Two stroke tuneing dyno at the side of MB developments, rearly nice helpfull guy
, its not just the 225 thats poor, the 200s no better, if they made a 225 version of the 186 [same state of tune] you could,nt want for more. The best BHP ive had out of are lass,s 200 was 14.6, and that was with a 60mm full circle crank
.
may mugello 225 with 30 dellorto scoot rs exhaust was putting out 13bhp took it 2 chalky at replay scooters he sorted it out ported it etc 22bhp now flys might as well of got a ts1 and saved all the messing around

looking forward to fitting one to a mate's scooter next month.
really tempted to replace my muggy v.2, which has been fine for 5000 miles, with one too...
I read this elswhere today
"MB were testing their RT190 this week, which produced 18.2hp with 14lbs torque. On a 58mm crank, no matching work to the casings and no tuning! But amasingly with a 24mm Mikuni and a standard tail pipe Clubman! And 50cc tuning reads 10% higher than the MB dyno aparently."
its strange how these smaller kits are giving the bigger kits a run for their money

My knowledge of 2 stroke tuning fits on a postage stamp..!cezeta wrote:and a standard tail pipe Clubman!
What would be the alternative to a standard tailpipe, and what would the effect actually be?
Only thing I can think of is a VW muffle, and I though the effect was a lot of noise..
Most of the noise with the VW tail pipe was the way it was fitted. The old tail pipe & rear section was usually just hacked off and a cone fabricated with a small collar welded on to the end of it, the VW pipe then clamped in place to the collar with a clamp or jubilee. this then concentrated all the noise at the smallest part of the exhaust and shot it out of the VW pipe.
If the tail pipe clamp tube had been extended further into the exhaust, to the mid point at its widest section, then the tail pipe fitted to this, it is much quieter with a deeper tone instead of a loud crack. still a loud exhaust but much easier on the ear.

From what I have seen in the short time that I have been tuning lamb barrels The bigger the bore is the smaller the transfer area becomes (Not a good thing) it is like running 1500mtrs with asmha (it don't work) I think that this is one of the biggest down falls with these large bore cylinders and why there is more to be gained from a smaller bore as there is more transfer area that you can open out before you start going through the stud holes, as an example if you bored out a 125 cyl as big as you can take it and keep the same transfer port areas and only open out the inlet and ex port even matched the transfer ducts to the casses the engine will be strangled by the transfer window area and timings. I have worked on large bore RB's, TS1s and others and managed to work around the stud holes and gain half as much area on the second set of tran ports with good feed back from the ownerseibargum wrote:Last week i helped a mate fit one of the new muggy 186s, we did nothing special to it [dont know how TBH] just opened up the transfers on the caseing to match barral, opened the inlet to match his manifold, same with the exhaust but polished, did nothing to the ports into the barral. I can say that the difference in a standard tail piped clubman (Ancillotti) and a VW reverse cone AF clubman is..... approx 10 miles a hour faster. Just cahnged mine over and thats what I've got, revs thru the are gears are crisper too.
The Ancillotti I took off after approx 1000 miles is cracked to fook, the re-inforced type down pipe is cracked and the main bracket is cracked on the weld and the right angled bend.. pics available on request!
