Headlight problem

My Li headlight isn't bright enough to ride at night, even with a halogen bulb fitted. Strangely, it brightens a lot when I apply the brakes (front and rear brake light switches fitted). Thought it might be a bad earth so now have 3 good earths - also changed the ignition, checked the switch & replaced the bulb holder and checked all connections. Still no change - can anyone help please??!!

Have you checked the rear bulb is correct way round? Thick filament to top for the brake. Are you on 6v or 12?

I'm on 12v - it's an MB set up with BGM stator. The rear bulb is the correct way round and the earth is good. I have no idea what it could be. Very occasionally the lights brighten on their own (without braking, suggesting earth problem) but that hasn't happended for a couple of months.

Might be worth checking the the stator lighting coils and wire first, then substitute another regulator and check the loom terminal and earth on the reg.
