I think you will be wasting your time, as I don't think the varitronic DC output is enough to power the headlight so after a while the battery will go flat and you'll have very dim lights.

Sorry, I might add the reason for the help, my neighbour is a LED specialist and we are working together to create a LED headlight bulb which will fit straight in with low power consumption, brighter light etc. So I need a DC feed.

Ah, well brown is the only feed into the scootrs switch so if you connect this to a DC supply all your lights, pilot, tail, speedo and headlight, will work off of the battery.

I wish someone would come up with a cure for the Varitronics crap lights ,not a patch on Indian systems so good luck with the LED front .Let us know if it works and gives a good beam

Ok, I'm kinda back on it, never enough time!

Now, I have brown from the main loom connected to brown on the switch, so if I connect brown from the switch to a DC supply what do I do with brown from the main loom?

Sorry for the dumb question, but I suck with this sort of stuff, I enjoy playing with wires and soldering irons and stuff, just suck with the theory and smarts side of it!

cheers

I don't think anyone can answer that unless they know the specifics of what you are running, full DC, AC and DC (and what's powering what), loom type etc.

The way i see it is you have 2 choices......

Convert your whole lighting system to DC, this is an easy job, requiring one wire to be earthed on the indian or BGM stator. It can also be esily reversed in case of roadside issues when only AC cdi's or regulators are available. OR

Fit an inline recifier and a 12v resistor just before your live bulb terminal. this will convert that supply for that bulb only to DC.

Hope that helps,
Ian
