Is there a quick way to check if the pickup is knackered without removing the stator?

I am getting the correct resistance across green/white and red/white, but the stator is dead. No spark across green wire to frame. CDI, lead and plug swapped for known good ones.

This is on my mates Indian stator, not my shiny new BGM.

If we are discussing a 12V AC unit? The stator green should spark to earth, regardless of the pick-up. If nothing is coming from the green, suspect low tension coil, dry joint or poor earth to stator (white)

Thanks Daggs, Yes 12v AC. The low tension coil is showing 480 ohms. I'll have another look in the morning to see if it sparks to earth. Perhaps I'm not holding it close enough.
