Just started stripping Indian front hub, split the hub in two and after cleaning loads of s**t and rust off found that the brake shoes have the "Innocenti" stamp and a part no on them, question is whats the chances of these being genuine shoes as they have loads of lining left on them or are the Indians in the habit of religning old brake shoes

i have some gp innocenti n.o.s brake shoes in the shed ill try and post pics at the weekend so you can compare

If they are original be careful if you decide to re dress (sand) them as they could have asbestos in...!!!!

i have just been on asbestos awareness course...in which was the most boring 3 hours off this year so far but my ears did prick up when he started to talk about old brake shoes, in which he said they were made from very low grade asbestos (white) which would not cause a problem only if you was working day after day with them.. but personally i would were mask.

it was very informative but it did drag on..and yes asbestos is scary stuff and its quite shocking just how much there is around and the only solution at this time is just to cover the stuff up because off the cost of removing it and the fact that its still mined

The rules regulations and method statements involved in the process of removal is a complete nightmare alone...

Anyway back on topic..I bought some rears from ress scoot last year which were stamped innocenti but not sure if they was NOS but I dressed them in the back of the garden with a dusk mask on and binned the sand paper I used and wore protective gloves which also went in the bin...
