I've got a couple of spanish rear hubs, one is quite badly scored on the brake surface area, the other doesn't look too bad. Does anyone know if you can skim the drum in a lathe and if so by how much? Looking for max/min diameter etc.
Thanks.

Hi Stu,
I done a couple of hubs and only took enough off to clean up the surface and all seems ok. Also I made up a little tool for holding the hub true, I can post some pics if you want.
Also, my new seat is just about done, look out for my post to show it off!
cheers
frank

Hi Stu,
sorry for my lateness, there's nothing worse is there?
Anyway, here is my mandrel; works quiet simply really(I'm gonna slur cos i've had a couple of beers!)
It's a big bolt,I've turned down the head and shank to the nominal diameter of the small diameter of a layshaft spline.
I've turned a taper on a nut to suit the taper of a cone,the second nut is to lock and finally a centre drill in the end for a centre on the lathe.

And just for you here's my seat;
