Kickstart splines knackered and after stalling yesterday had a long push home after it came off. About to replace the shaft and kickstart - Series 2. Having had to fettle and reattach my old kicksart a few times the splines obstruct the kickstart bolt and strip the threads when pushed through. Any ideas re this? File a groove through the splines like Series 3, only on side for bolt? or just force through and live with the stripped threads- should be enough for nut. Many thanks,

I push the pedal tight up to the circlip then run a drill or dremil down the bolt hole to allow the bolt thru.I sometimes go all the way through and use a shanked tensile M7 or even M8 with a nut on the end .Some of the pattern bolts strip the threads well before getting tight enough.Personally M8 is the best but depends if you want to keep it standard. Why didn't you bump scoot off?

Cheers. Tried to bump a few times with no success, - couldn't get the revs up - wasn't sure whether I had flooded or if not enough fuel getting. Knackered myself trying and gave up. Had a PX125 when I was younger and it was a doddle to bump. S2 Lammys ain't half heavy! Thanks again for your advice.
