Has anyone used the uprated selector spring from MB, i have just had a new gearbox built and i opted for all the 'race tour' parts (layshaft, bearings etc...) the actual selection is very hard and needs two hands to select 1st! we have re looked at the box and all parts are moving freely and tolerances are perfect however when you activate the sliding dog on the layshaft it is very 'positive' clunk as it moves across the gears.
Has anyone used this and if required will a standard selector spring handle a tour tuned TS1 (25bhp)

Apparently they do soften up. you will just need an extra arm untill they do.

I must admit my last engine build was a TS1 230, I ordered an MB selector spring, but decided at the last minute to put a new standard spring in, worrying about hard gear changing, and its been fine.

put a new mb one in my recent project, mb layshaft etc... first day with the gears and i thought f@?k, as it was a 2 hand jobbie :shocking: but 2 days later all was well, stick with it

I have been thinking the same! I just built my gearbox up with one of these springs and it just seem too difficult to change gear. I've been wondering about stripping it again and putting a standard one in.

when i built me brothers engine popped one in way too hard to change gear had to take it out a week later all fine now with a standard one
