As you can all see the top hat on the Li bell housing has been worn flat and welded part of itself to the clutch lever. Which in turn has worn away.

Yes, I've had similar. A poor quality remade thimble wore through, but didn't get as far as removing the nipple.

Crap parts never had this happen with Innocenti bits.

Indeed Jason, a quick rummage through my old engine trays turned up an Innocenti item that has been fine ever since.

It was an Innocenti nipple (I hope), came out of a SX150, and it was a snug fit.

It is the second time this has happened. First time I found the thimble had worn through and you can see what has happened the second time.

I just don't know why this is happening :?: :?: :baddevil:

Any suggestions other than bad fitting thimble

Dare say the pressure plate is warped causing it to revolve out of true thus making the nipple run off centre. I had this trouble on a TS1 with Indian pressure plates and strong springs that warped two plates before I sussed the problem. So converted a one piece Innocenti Li plate removing the nipple, to GP spec and have had no trouble since. There was a reason Innocenti fitted the earlier clutches with the cluster centre pin perhaps this is why. Also looks to have rubbed on the casing as well.

this sort of thing can also be caused by not having any free play in clutch cable adjustment............
in other words,if your clutch cable is over tight, then the arm will always be putting pressure on the nipple,...which can cause lack of lube and friction build up........

Thanks for the comments

No wonder Dan had trouble with the clutch when I brought it up for a dyno last Autumn
