my mikuni tm24 carb doesnt stay on the mb inlet manifold well

the inlet rubber onlt has a "lip" on one side - the one that sits in the groove machined in the carb inlet body.

the other side doesnt hold securely onto the straight inlet manifold

i tighten it up but once the engine is at running temperature the rubber is no longer tight, so i tighten it a bit more - but iot wont stay tight

this is the second engine ive had this trouble on and ive run out of patience and sick of "ive never heard of that before" (not from rayspeed)

i would like to use a flanged rubber inlet rubber to go onto my carb. i need to get hold of either an alloy flanged inlet manifold that attaches to the rubber or an ali flange on its own - i want to ally weld the flange onto my mb inlet manifold so i can have a secure long term solution for peace of mind

does anyone know of an ally inlet manifold (24mm) that fits on a motorbike i can modify or a place where i can buy one from

any advice/point in the rught direction greatly appreciated

Is the problem on the rubber (bulge on just one end) or in the manifold (no groove)?

If the problem is in the rubber get a new one, if in the manifold get the groove machined to it. I had a flanged manifold made from rubber for my TM24 and it kept falling off all the time, it's been much better since I got MB manifold and this connecting rubber.

i cant get rubber connectors with the lip on both ends to fit in grooves, they only come with a lip at one end.

have tried malossi type rubbers and hoses on 2 different mb manifolds and they all have the same problem with varying tightness tried

I checked out my rubber and it too had only one lip, but the carb hasn't fell off yet. My experiences with the rubber flange that LTH is selling are very bad, it doesn't fit at all without some fettling and even after that the lip doesn't match with groove in carb so the overall fitment is really bad.

Does anyone kno if the MRB carb rubber does have lips in each end?

I have the Mb manifold and the rubber and carb came from WCLW i have never had a problem with the carb moving

The MB rubber has the lip only on one side. However, it is made from a much stiffer compound than the Malossi which is way to soft and only gets softer with use.
