H.I.D Headlight system

i have just fitted a high intensity discharge bi-xenon headlight unit to my series 1 and i am amazed at having the brightest lights i have ever seen on a bretta.

pics were taken with scoot about 6 foot from wall , will do more pics very soon . first impressions are very favourable 8)
anyone else tried similar?

Where is it from? Just the bulb or a complete headlight unit?

the parts i fitted ,wiring is only placed in position not connected up yet 8)

modified bulb holder to take h4 bulb

o-ring glued in place to take slack up
ballast above the lighting circuit relays
all from mathew in france

What is the Wattage of the bulb, and you do have it triggered via a relay, can't quite make out the pics on my iPhone.

Bulb is 35w and a true xenon bulb , that's why it has the ballast Which converts 12 to 3,500volts to light the xenon gas. Yes I have all 3 lights triggered by relay as the switch can only cope with 6amps and my battery is 7.2amps. We found the switch was getting very hot before fitting the relays

Good point....its all very well improving the stator output but its also important to ensure your circuitry can handle the extra ampage. To put it into perspective your domestic lighting circuitry is typically 10A protected (MCB or increasingly RCBO).
Make sure your wire/insulation can handle at least 8 Amps. Maybe fit an inline fuse?
I would also be extremely careful with routing of the HV cabling from the ballast and would prefer this to sit as close as possible to the lamp....behind the horncast, like you'e done looks a good idea.

is it not an MOT fail to have a non-factory fitted HID headlamp on a bike?
I like them, but am concerned over the expense and the law.....

A local mot tester was there while I was doing as was a police traffic cop and they both commented on what a good idea it was. If you look on eBay these kits are cheap enough.

Mark, how does the dip work, is it a seperate filament or is there some other jiggeriy pokery? I only ask as on my car there is some sort of solenoid that works the dip/high beam.
Very interested in this btw.
