just taken the chaincase off a gp200 engine in a scooter ive had restored and they didnt put any oil in the engine.

been on 5 - 10 minute trips around town and just filled up for the third time

very worried about the engine - having had all the bearings replaced with quality ones - will they be ok or have they cooked?

any advice or anyone with previous experinec appreciated

ps cant get the clutch bell (spider) and crankshaft sleeves off - they are stuck on tight

Hmmm doesn't sound too good but have you been in touch with the engine builder?

will ring tomorrow but will have to choose my words carefully

Mick, i wouldn`t hang back on this mate, they only had the bloody thing best part of two years !

worried incase the bearings have overheated and lost their mechanical properties and oilseals cooked

The main-shaft (gear cluster) bearing track, where the needle roller runs is normally one of the first part to show signs of damage when an engine is run without oil, or with a very low oil level.
If they (the shop/engine builder) coated all the bearings and tracks on assembly then possibly the damage might be minimal, depending on how hard it was ridden on the short trips its done.
I hope its not too bad when you strip it down, which I think you will have to do...

suppose discolouration is the best sign of overheating (straw colour going up to blue?)

i recon the bloke who built it, face will be this colour.

fill it with oil and try it ,change oil again if it smokes its likley to need pulling to bits again,,
i know it was rebuilt by some one else BUT WHY DIDNT YOU CHECK IT AND REFILL WITH FRESH OIL TO BE ON THE SAFE SIDE????

i think it needs to go streight back to the builder ,,, why risk it if you have waited as long as yamlam says you want it doing right ,, most experienced builders put a sticker saying no oil on the engine and only remove this after they put oil in

my brother in law bought a crosser for my nephew what was suposed to have been PDI,d
after riding around for about 10 mins my nephew brought it back saying it didnt feel right ,, the guy who sold the bike was a well respected guy so it does happen to the best of them ... the bike was filled with oil and was fine as it happend but the guy who sold it seid if it goes bang he would replace it ,,
