Hydraulic press to fit engine mounts?

I just picked up a freshly built Italian GP200 engine for my rusto from a friend that I bribed with parts & intoxicants. He originally had changed the engine mounts cold using a hydraulic press on the empty case. However when doing a dry build we noticed the kickstart side mount had collapsed already (two hole SIL)

Last night we attempted to fit a replacement (another SIL 2 hole) the standard way with heat and the correct tool, but no matter how much heat we gave it we couldn't get the mount all the way home (see pic below). I'm reluctant to give a freshly built engine stupid amounts of heat. Any other recommendations? Is is wise to use a hydraulic press to fit them, particularly now the engine is complete and the cylinder obscures the lugs to a degree? I absolutely don't want to snap a lug off. Any advice is much appreciated!

Can a vice to push it home?

or a big nut and bolt with a plate either side (a metal plate not a dinner plate)

can you get the rubber out?? if so you can use a hacksaw to cut the mount casingthis will free it off and you will be able to knock the outer casing out.
i used to do this all the time on rear axle bushes on vw's,i know they are bigger etc,but its the same principle.

If you can remove the mount again safely, I'd check for any burrs inside the lug and if OK would just use some very fine wet & dry. Might be worth checking if the mount is the same circumference all the way along with some verniers.

Hi Benji, pressing them cold will more than likely cause some galling. Could be why you're not having a win.

What is the heat source you are using?

When I changed my mounts, I used a propane/oxy torch, heated up the lug evenly (Spit on the case,it should bounce right off and smell a little) until I could pull the mount out with multi-grips. At the same time a new mount is chilling in the freezer. Take the mount out, give it a coat of oil on the face and refit,you may need to add a little heat and the mount should slide in.
