If they are different types of construction would there be any benefit in fitting 3 or only 2 of the best option ? I hope that makes sense.
SIL 200 Piston Rings
I am going to replace the pistons rings on a Indian 200 top end, the standard 3 ring type but I was wondering. If I get some new rings are all 3 the same type ? or is one or more chrome etc.
If they are different types of construction would there be any benefit in fitting 3 or only 2 of the best option ? I hope that makes sense.

The std piston comes with 3 x 2 mm rings, 2 are chrome and 1 is standard. No idea if they fit in any specific order or if you could leave one out.
Strange that the "new" SIL piston looks like it's already done 5,000 miles straight out of the box. Maybe they're bench tested?

The 2 top rings are the chrome ones and I've run mine with just the top 2 rings, no problems.

NO IT'S NOT A F***IN* MOPED!!!!!!
Thanks for all the input, I will probably only fit the top 2 rings as suggested when it all gets put back together.
