No.....but if you decide to have it refurbished then Jem Booths your man.
If you buy those cheepo replacements from VC then you're wasting your money

Got no intention of replacing the speedo

want to keep most of original parts. I didnt think it was the actual speedo but now you have said it could be and a refurb would be my choice I just wondered if it could be a cable prob

Take the drive end off the wheel and put an electric drill on the square inner cable run the drill in reverse and your speedo should work. It helps if your drill has a variable speed on it but see if its stable like that
If it is it could be the worm drive in the hub, mine had a worn flat on it that made it jump.
If its sill jumping tack the speedo of the other end and check that the cable is running smoothly again with the drill. After that you need super Jem

This can often be the cable and not the speedo. Check it's located right at both ends, in particular on the hub, with the olive grabbing the outer in the right place, and keeping the cable in the hub. Could also be that the cable is binding on the outer as it gets more worn out (is the cable due to be replaced anyway?). Quite often this happens in the place where the cable outer passes through the forks.

yeah what happens if the cable is kinked or needs oiling is as the inner cable turns it gets wound up till the cable then turns suddenly then gets stuck again ,then does this again and again ,so your pointer on your speedo jumps back and forth
