Hello all,
I've just got my barrel etc back from JB Tuning after some mild tuning. (mostly just just making sure everything matches and flows right)
I know how to measure squish using solder but what is the best way to adjust it? Is it better to add gasket width to the head or the base?
Cheers

Meus Lambretta est non infractus. Is est quietus.
Replacing just the head gasket with a different thickness will only alter squish clearance and compression where as the base gasket will also effect the port timings slightly.

Cheers.
Since JB has just spent his time and my money on matching them up I guess that the head is the one to adjust.

unless he knew the deck clearance beforehand the port timings are an approximation anyway
check these, then you will know where to adjust

He knew it was for a spanish casing which he said had a deck height 1mm more than an Italian one. (as do Indian ones apparently)

deck height is measured where the piston finishes at tdc in relation to the barrell 1mm can make a difference of 5 degs on the port timings
