What would be involved in turning a Viet pipe ie;PM knock-off into a low down torque touring pipe?

swap it for a clubman ? :D :D

Maybe try increasing the "tuned length" by extending the manifold part?
Not really sure if any simple modifications are gonna help or be cost effective. Aren't these exhausts stainless anyway......could be a real pain to cut / weld etc and better off probably just buying a diff exhaust in the long run?

The stainless part dosen't worry me, I work with stainless for a living. I agree with increasing the tuned length, but I was thinking of increasing the parallel section and maybe tweaking the reverse cone.(?)

i believe the cone angles and lengths would need to be a lot different to what you have and would be better to start from scratch ,there was a pipe design link on the old forum

I know that you can buy differing manifold lengths for the Taffy MK4 pipes, 370, 350 or 330 if I,m not mistaken. I believe they had these made so that folk who found their engines couldn't rev on enough (due to varying port timings, esp exhaust height and blow down duration) could fit a shorter manifold and so push peak power further up the rev range.
So thats why i suggested the opposite, cheaper and easier option to try first?

I very much appreciate what your saying, I am running a Sito Ancillotti, but I still am yet to understand the science behind them(?) I not sure if it's engine tune, gearing or the exhaust but I'm sure I can improve somwhere

So, I thought I could buy a big name exhaust and more than likely will, but I would also like to have a go and convert a Viet rev monster..

no worries
p.s. the series 2 version of the ScootRS pipe is slighter longer so fractionally torquier anyway.
