too many volts ?

measuring the DC at the [1.2Ah] battery charged by a Ducati P2 rectifier on my bike it's reading 15/16v. Is this going to be too much for the battery, and i should slip a zenor diode in there ? or will it cope ...?
i would have thought 14 is max as thats what most chargers put out

using what wattage diode ? actually I've got one off a Rally, I'll give that a go. save a trip to maplins in the snowtzr.steve wrote: the zener will limit the voltage to 13.6V
