Small Block 200

Hi have been looking at these

and reading a thread on LCgb about small block 200. anyone got one of these? I'm on a budget engine wise so 186 / Rb20 are right out my price range.

Whats your thoughts??

Whilst I've not used one of those specific kits, I've used an SR186 bored to 66mm with an appropriate piston and head and have had very good results.

No problems with thinness of cylinder walls and no nip ups.

Asked my reborer to give me 3 thou clearance (piston to cylinder), which he thought was "too tight" but ran well with no rattles.

Now looking for an SR186 with either a 64mm or a 66mm piston TO SUIT A TV 175 ROD. Anyone point me in the right direction?

if you spend hundreds (700?) on preparing a reliable engine (new crank, bearings, clutch,12ve) its worth getting the casing (or another one) welded up for 200cc stud spacing. get
an old 150 casing welded up for 130.- or get an indian casing new.
an indian 200cc stage 4 cylinder kit costs next to nothing compared to all the conversions for smallblocks and gives you 13hp and a really reliable touring engine also good for 2-up or and luggage. if you spend your pesos for a small block and compare the costs to building up a "serious" 200 engine theres no real difference.

near as i can tell, this kit is a 150 /175 cylinder opened up to 66mm. you get the benefit of the displacement but with out the larger ports of a 200. my money would be on getting an actual 200 barrel, have the stud spacing moved to fit the 150 case and turn down the spigot to suit. i think the italians call it a "little 200".
i haven't done it yet, but i'm thinking of picking up a cheap ali. 200 cylinder and having it sorted out to this end.
