looking to get my recently acquired TS1 dynoed and set up, but there's no one in my area thats specialist scooter that does it that i'm aware. But there's a place locally that does sports bikes and classic motorcycles, so is the art of setting carbs up etc..the same, the guy said he's done the odd scooter and has a good reputation, or would i be better traveling to a specialist scooter dyno guy.
Is it just a case of screen read outs and jet adjustments despite the two wheeler?
does the dyno place matter!!

Scooter experience is essential IMO, but not all scooter dyno operators entirely understand what they're doing with them. If you post your location then you'll no doubt get some recommendations

just make sure he knows a 2 stroke engine ,
at the end of the day its still a 2 stroke and a relativly basic one at that
a delorto is still a delorto and a mikuni is still a mikuni weather its on a YZ , RM , or an Aprillia or vespa or lambretta ,
just be sure they know there way around a 2 stroke ,

I can recommend RP Motor sports in Grantham. Although he doesnt carry a lot of jets etc for scoot carbs he is a 2 stroke specialist and spanners for race teams. We usually take our scoots and a box of carb jets needles etc and he does the rest and he is conservative and wont set the motor to make max power on the dyno then blow up on the way home. Contact number is 01476 565665
What about Harry Barlow (Pro- Porting), he certainly knows what he`s doing. from that sort of area as well,
Keep on keepin on

And remind him that Lambrettas and Vespas are probably two of the most poorly cooled 2 stroke engines ever made.lifes a drag wrote:just make sure he knows a 2 stroke engine ,

Exactly, this is why I say scooter knowledge is preferred. They may be able to set up modern two strokes but there are anomolies with these old beasts, look good on a dyno, BANG! on the road, be warned.GP Kevo wrote:And remind him that Lambrettas and Vespas are probably two of the most poorly cooled 2 stroke engines ever made.lifes a drag wrote:just make sure he knows a 2 stroke engine ,
