hello all,
Difficult question I know, but what rear shock would you all recomend for a general tourer. The hagons look pretty good but are they worth three times what a standard Escort costs.
Any other alternatives? Remember this is a just general runabout, not a fire-breathing racer.

yes of course...........the yam R1 ones too..........if re bushed and re sprung..........
but then they may be a bit more........price wise........4/5 times the cost of a crap shocker...
like anything...........you get what you pay for..............

I'm using a Hagon on my Bitsa. The handling used to be terribly twitchy. It's not now!
I guess any replacement shocky may have resolved the issue, but the Hagon seems well made and bolts on 'out of the box' Is it worth the cost? Only time will tell. But i've bought another for my current resto. project.

I've been running a hagon on my TS1 for a few years now and it is by far the best thing I've had on it I've had taffy shocks - bushes kept popping out, tried a GAZ shock but took it off when my mates snapped....suddenly did not trust mine.......fitted the hagon and I'm no lightweight.....far from it (20st+) and I carry enough luggage to wear a mule out let alone a shock but the hagon has never let me down and handles great.....famous last words eh!!

Sold a few in your neck of the woods. If you know someone with one it may be worth asking if they'll let you try it on your scooter to see how it feels for a mile or two. It's only a 5 minute job to swop over and back.
Shockers seem to be one of those parts that people think very little of until it's knackered, when fitting a decent new one can have such a dramatic effect on how the scooter handles.
Quite a few dealers stock them but I've never ventured further South than Cambridge Lambrettas.
Stuart Owen at 100mph Lambrettas stocks them too and Stuart won't touch anything that's not top class.
So as not to upset all the other dealers, here's a full list...
100mph Lambrettas
AF Rayspeed.
Beedspeed.
Cambridge Lambrettas.
Chiselspeed.
ESP.
Gransport.
K & S Scooters
Lincs Lambrettas.
Mike Phoenix.
Sandy Scooters.
Solely Scooters.
No doubt I'll have forgotten someone.
