How much of a performance hit from this sucker?

Mate of mine is having his TV175 S2 mooded up to pish at the minute
He wants to fit one of these gammy pipes or something similar.
I`ve recently fitted an SR175 top end to his bike and it goes pretty well. How much of a hit, if any,do these pipes have on performance?

Hard to say really, depends on the machine and current engine spec....a standard 10bhp machine probably wont go much slower....but a 34bhp racer would just die (of embarrasment

).
Its not going to help any, put it that way.

i think that fits my lawn mower its a qualcast, and will probably knock a 10bhp machine down to 5,       put it on the top of the dustbin to stop the cat getting in!                regards                     joe

A mate of mine put one on a standard series 2 TV 175 and it knocked a good 5mph of the top speed and was generally nasty to ride.
He's not even a mod, just an idiot who liked the sound of it.

I put one on my standard 125 special. It made no difference to the 'performance' either way, but sounded lovely.

156 sorry mate but to my eyes that pipe is completely different to the one in question. The one on the S2 would have been like the ones below (you can see the silencer is completely different) an S3 type just wouldnt have fitted on an S2?
I have an original FIAMM of that type at the top (which im assuming is a viet stainless copy), I cant comment on performance as I dont care about it 1 iota (hence all the lamps etc) I didnt feel it went any differently on my standard 150 but it did sound much nicer with a proper mod 'pop pop pop'.
I can tell you that it looks much better than a standard pipe, but Id tell him that with a TVS2 if he wants to be a top face he needs to find an original rather than a remade POS

Looking down the inlet on those pipes (the one in the first post) there's a very restrictive hole, I'd open the hole up as much as possible using a sharp cold chisel.

Corrado, is that a self-portrait?
You can enlarge the inlet hole on them for more powerful engines (to a degree) but they do get quite loud. (I refer to the exhaust now, not Corrado's avatar.)
