GP engine Cutting Out

When i am in 4th gear & go full throttle (not sure whether it happens after 1/2 or 3/4 throttle), my engine bogs down & cuts out, as if i had run out of fuel.
When acccelerating through the gears, I didn't notice it.
I have plenty of petrol & i am using a fast flow tap.
If i pull over, the engine recovers.
Any ideas?
cheers

1st port of call for me would be removing the carb and giving it a thorough clean and probably flushing the tank through a couple of times with clean fuel.
May not solve anything but costs nothing and can't do any harm.

Check the tank cap breather is completely clear.
Are you sure it's a fast flow tap?
Inspect the fuel flow needle in the carb and the float movement.

Already had the carb apart & cleaned it out.
Can't see any problems with the movement of the float
It is defo a fast flow tap.
will check the petrol cap breather though!

Could it be your carb hose collapsing with the sudden vacuum?

Have you got a ScootRs PWK buy any chance ?
One with a clear float bowl.

I know you say you've got a fast flow fuel tap - but have you measured it's flow?
I had exactly the same symptoms - only in 4th, I tried numerous 'fast flow ' taps but only got enough flow with one from camlam.
Or have you tried the breather hole in the cap?

In that case you probably have the common case of the float bowl running dry :flaming:
To verify this for yourself.... when it happens reach down and switch off the fuel tap and check the float bowl. It will be empty
You will join many of the other victims of this carb, however once you take the short time to fix it, the carb is extremely rewarding.....

You will see a raised lug at the bottom of the float bowl, burn this off with a soldering iron, and check for the free operation of the float, that it's not fowling on anything else (mine was on the 45deg brass overflow pipe, and I fettled the plastics to free it off)
I also did the other mods to the inlet holes in the float valve chamber, and opening up the small hole near to the main jet; just for luck when I was at it.
let us know how you get on.
