Five speed Gearboxes.

I know that back in the 80’s I think, you could get hold of these, however I assume they where not very successful. My question is why can’t one be produced to provide better performance for a Lammy?

So from that it could be concluded that if you can get your hands on one they have some merits? What merits did they have?

basically you'll have 5 "areas" on which to keep the scooter on the power rather than 4.

I understand the 5 speed boxes were too thin leaving breakages on the gears and the Xmas tree.

With the recent usage of "cryo" freezing parts, would this not combat the breakage issue? There must be a larger market for these now more than any other time?

Yeah, it cost a fortune as a one off.

It's not so much too thin as what they were made of. If you've ever seen the gears in a superbike they are thinner than Lambretta ones.
