Hi, i,m running a sx200 midly tuned with a 42mm ralph saxelby exhaust and want to upgrade from a standard carb ( 22mm) to a larger one . I still want to use the standard air filter and box for the original look , does anybody have any ideas what set up i could use ie what carb ( 26,28,30mm)what manifold etc to get the correct angle and distanst but to upgrade the power . The scooter used to run a 22mm bored out to 26mm and did run much better but the threads on this carb knackered and i had to use a 22mm jetex as i couldn,t get another dellorto so this is out of the question , any suggestions greatfully received ,thanks.

Hi, I've used a Jetex bored out to 25.4mm (1inch) to great effect on a 225 cast iron barrel and on my Casa 210 kit. If you want to retain the filter box, you can only go up to about Dellorto PHBL 25/26mm carbs or equivalent.
Bigger carbs are not compatible with using an airbox and filter, a remote filter is normally used. I believe that anything bigger then 28mm carb is overkill...............others may differ, but hey more opinions = more options.

What do you mean by " dial in " and also what manifold do you use with this as one of friends tried this and the one he used left the carb at the wrong angle to use the original filter .

'Dialled in' is just a term to mean that the carb is jetted correctly for the engine it's being used with.............

Not that I've checked, but if you chat to any of the 'big' names in Lambretta, they will be happy to point you in the right direction for a suitable inlet manifold OR buy a complete kit, carb, manifold, choke and throttle cables, rubber etc. The carb will be jetted to your engine by the supplier AND if any problems he will be happy to advise you on solutions.........simples
