A mate of mine has just come back from Italy and told me that apart from a totally new design of Mugello kit, Tino has also been working on a Belt drive system for the Lambretta primary drive. This is about to be released and apparently can handle up to 40bhp with less transmission loss.
i presume this has been developed by Charlie edmonds, so does anyone know anything more??

Sounds good if true, though I wouldn't expect to see a belt drive in GP4 as I'd interpret the rear sprocket as part of the "Gearbox".
That's not to say Charlie wouldn't be developing something cunning away from the track

7. Gearcase - The gear casing must be as manufacturer’s original specification.
8. Gearbox - The gearbox must be as manufacturer’s original specification for the engine type, except that the original
gear cluster may be altered to provide alternative ratios. The thickness of the original loose gears may be altered but
the original gear teeth must remain. The number of ratios must remain unchanged.

I'm trying to get a scan of the picture i have of it.
It seems to run the original endplate, also runs in oil although it doesn't specify which type. It seems to use a saachi type clutch with a new crown wheel and it is tensioned from above by a car type distribution belt tensioner roller. it will be available in 46/47/and 48 crownwheel and 15/16/17/18/19/20 top sprocket.
Good for 40.000 klms apparently.
Leaflet is in italian so i'm doing my best.

i suppose the belt would have to run in oil or you'd have to lose the kick start

Guy Topper runs his dry as he has no kickstart but he absoulutely shredded a belt at Donington this year.
Don't think I got a picture but I'll have a look.

I had a ktm with a 560cc rotax engine it had a cam belt that would run problem free as long as the pulley wheels were fitted correctly just a few mm out and it would shred the belt in minutes.
Could the Tino have a dry clutch and a sealed gearbox end plate
