why do race lammys have the top of the horn cast trimmed back? is it just to quicken cable changes?

Its to allow the rider to quickly get the cable outer back in without taking the horncast off if it drops out. Personally if I'd say if the cable drops out it wasnt fitted right in the first place tho!
