Had to adjust IWIS Chain tonight on the TS1 and is now definately on its last legs, it is clear all the bearings are now virtually worn out, but there is still Warmwell to do weekend after next before I can rebuild the engine
Was rebuilt last winter and am happy with the service it has given this year, but
Can I have a list of the highest possible quality consumables, it is possible to use
ie is there better quality than a IWIS chain or skf bearing or rolfe seals
did i make a mistake using a 2RS bearing with such a low max rev limit, is C3 still the norm
running 17 46 on LI 150 for 4.6 would changing to 19 48 on a pacemaker gearbox (again 4.6)using a 83 link chain give noticeable improvement in life to the chain and clutch
like to do a full season without HAVING to do a rebuild, but would do it anyway

i use the 82 link Tsubaki chain from taffspeed . its a fantastic qualty chain with solid rollers(not split like most chains). i believe its a cam chain of a honda 70-90
a copy of their site
Lightweight select steel alloy sideplates provide maximum strength
Performance features include solid bushings, shot peened parts
Chain is pre-stressed and pre-stretched to reduce initial chain stretch
usedin harleys as well

anyone used these 2RU bearings
Seals - Usually made from NITRILE. Seals are either CONTACT (type 2RS) or NON-CONTACT (type 2RU). Contact type seals which are secured in within the outer race and contact the inner race greatly increase start up and running torque, thereby reducing running speed. They also provide a very effective method of excluding contaminants and retaining the bearing lubricant. Standard Nitrile seals have a maximum recommended temperature of 100o Celsius (212o Farenheight). Some bearings are also available with PTFE seals offering very effective sealing whilst minimising torque

SKF 6305 2Z
Shielded (2Z) bearings are fitted with two metal dust shields to prevent ingress of dirt and foreign matter.
2RZ bearings are 2Z bearings fitted with two low friction seals.
•Primarily intended for applications where the bearing inner ring rotates
If the outer ring rotates there is a danger that grease may be lost from the bearing at high speeds
Both standard and C3 clearance available
have a limiting speed of 13000rpm whereas 2RS Have a limit of 7500rpm
reading on the internet its the heat buildup that kills the bearing and only 70% of the limiting speed is recommended
A RS bearing does not have a higher limiting speed
any reasons anyone can think of not to use these 2Z bearings

82 link IWIS is a cam chain from a TVR. Mind you when I had a Honda C50 it revved much higher than any TVR.

speaking to a koyo technical guy suggested considering a M305 instead of a 6305 and a NJ2205 instead of a NU2205
Koyo 6305 come with 8 balls as standard and they are making a 9 ball version

Speaking to Ernie from Liverpool SC, and I think he told me a while ago that he had aquired a 10 ball high load drive bearing but its not marked up as a 6305 I will try and find out what it is then you can see if its any good...

Dave.....when you comprise a list of the 'best of the best' bearings, seals, chains etc.......please post the 'final' list up here to help everyone?
