Which clutch pressure plate? LI 125 s3

Just realised my original clutch pressure plate/basket has the long locating spindle, so doesn't fit my Indian GP 200 gear box (it's not drilled).

I thought a replacement plate without the spindle would be the solution, but Sticky claims this is the 'worst' set up. Anyone else have an opinion on this?

I'm rebuilding the engine with the Casa 185 cylinder kit, so I don't think the clutch will be particularly traumatised.

And - sacrilege, I know - could you grind off the locating spindle from the original plate?

Thanks,

Dan

The spindle type is the better option, but it does mean finding a drilled Xmas tree to match.

I've done the same as Shocky with no noticable difference

Just make sure the remaining stub doesn't bottom out on the top of the Xmas tree. Otherwise use a Winco one from AF and just grind off the SX type nipple as they don't come in a GP type.

Thanks everyone - looks like I may go down the grinding path.

Cheers,

before you do............... I've built a Casa 185 using a late SX engine (no stub at rear of pressure plate)........no problems.
