anyone had any experience on this conversion? (machining down the spigot of a 200 barrel to 69mm to fit a 125 casing)
cheers Simon
Duecentino
yes but not deemed worth it 10yrs ago when sil 200 cases were £80 now there approching 20o quid they might make a comeback some barrels like the muggelo might not fit as the transfere ports are very wide as standard and the 150 cases dont have much meat on them unless you buy dans cases from ebay
id rather bore a proper tv 175 cylinder to 66mm theres a guy doing them for £249
for a cast barrel i recone theres £50 worth of machining max on this conversion for what is a £80 kit in standard form for that money you could be along way towards a proper 185 kit or a suzuki 190 one, infact my next suzi 190 will cost about £220 and thats with an new uprated 115mm long conroded crank by taffspeed
i do have the barrel already though but need piston, rebore, head and packer
"200cc Small Block Conversion:£249
New from Scooter Essentials is the GSE 200 Small Block conversion Kit. The brief was to develop a 200cc cylinder kit that bolts straight onto a 125/150 block, with no modifications or alterations to the casings. It should be noted that the barrel and head are genuine 200 and not a bored out 150/180 barrel. Running with a 22mm Jetex accompanied with a clubman exhaust, early testing on an Li125 Series 3 engine has shown some impressive results. The kit consists of a Stage Four Tuned Barrel & Piston (inc Head & Gaskets) and has been designed to improve the choice & performance for the small block engines without compromise to reliability. "

had a mate with such a conversion.
worked ok. but nothing really reliable on fast motorway.
can heat-seize easier than anything else.
i have an li 150 and choosed to get (another) series 3 li 150 casing welded and modified to take a 200cc standart cylinder. works perfectly and i can drive every cylinder i want. ts1, stage4, mugello, whatever. costs where about 150.-

you can run a 66mm piston with a 58x107 crank thats standardsimon k wrote:ok thanks for the reply's.may shelve that idea
shocky with the suggested tv175 bored out to 66mm am i right in thinking you can run a standard 200 piston on a 110mm rod?
if your using a tv 175 crank you would have to get a conversion piston and i think the biggest is 65mm and i havent seen on in a long while there maybe some jap piston that will fit maybe a dt175 piston or an oversize ts185 piston
if you use the 110 rod id say you would neet to use a 3 mm packer with a standard type piston
im gonna use a tv 175 bored to 64mm and a ts185 piston plus a 58x116 crank from AF ITS THE SAME CRANK AS THE RB 200

shocky, wont you also need a 2mm packer with the 116 rod ?
i will need something but will wait till its all together and adjust to suit i might get the head recessed and dowled so thickness will change

Does anyone have any more info on the Duecentino that GSE are selling? Do they plug up the stud holes in the 200 head and redrill 125/150/175 pattern holes? Or do they drill the barrel stud holes at an angle that forces the 150 stud pattern at the base of the cylinder to conform with the 200 stud pattern at the top of the barrel which allows the use of a totally standard 200 head?
Thanks,
Tim

i would of thought the obvious answer was to use a 175 head and reprofile it!
and secondly why bother.you are still going to end up with a 69mm spigot.
buy a sr 185 cylinder and bore it to 66mm.they where designed for this in
the first place.kits done like this are on ebay now.
