Ive had my series 2 restored about 5 months now, my back brake is quality but my front brake is shocking, if they asked me in a driving test the legal stopping distance at 30 mph i would say, i start to brake about 15 minutes before the junction. This is the second pair of new and different shoes ive used and ive done everything to prepare my front hub correctly.. Anyone out there know of a really good set of shoes on the market, cheers, bic.

i would consider a hydraulic set up,simply cos no matter how well you get your drums to work ........they will still be shite......
which is why all/most modern scoots use discs.....
try taking your disc brakes of your car and fitting drums instead..........

Bic,
The best brake shoes for your drum may well be old stock (even secondhand) shoes marked "Innocenti". However, they do contain asbestos.

My late father had a Vandan Plas...uuhh, then sold it to our kid and the head gasket blew..

the only vehicle he has owned that was less reliable than his lambretta...
And yes front lambretta brakes are shite buddy..Ive already started braking for tomorrows ride to brid..

My front drum works great- couldn't tell you what shoes are in it though.
Just practice anticipation ..

Try reverse pull cables, we use that method for stock class racing in the U.S. and it works great, also sanding your pads and blasting or sanding your hub inner.
Cheers

my jet200 drum is really good, i find that if you take it apart and with a fine file smooth the profile of the actuating cam so that it leads in progressivly. then clean everything with a wire wheel on a bench grinder taking of any rough or sharp surfaces.
clean the shoes with brake cleaner and get rid of any glaze then go round the drum with rough wet and dry at a 45 degree angle in both directions so that you are cross hatching the surface.
re assemble with ebc brake paste and use a none springy cable.
i did a stoppie on the jet when some boy racer pulled out on me, not a very good one but a panic fist full locked the wheel at about 30mph
hydrolic is better, original lammy discs are terrible.
