How does the JL3 compare with a Taffspeed mk4 in terms of
-clearance
-fit (cut rear runner?)
-quality of the build
-and most importantly performance?
Looking for a torquey/touring expansion alternative to a Clubman/Costalotti for a stage 4 GP200 I'm putting together for a new daily ride (read: stop/start inner city heavy traffic).
JL3 vs Taffspeed mk4 exhausts?

I've actually found it to be better
Fits without cutting rear runner and tailcan bracket doesn't foul on bottom of panel when doubled up (as the taffy did) as for performance seems to have more rev on than the taffy which felt like hitting a brick wall
On my standard ts1 225 pulls 4.8 ratio no problems , hope this is of some help .
Oh and as for longetivity had it 3 .5 years and used on ts1 and stage 4 still never packed the muffler and rivets haven't come loose either
2 more that you may consider are the MB Devtour and also the Franspeed. I believe the Franspeed to be a JL with enhancements such as better fixings, end can and also it's double skined I think ??
However I'm too in this position and I've got a Devtour on back order.

Thanks for the replies.
I'm basically looking for a exhaust with serious torque. Something that will pull like a train --even at the cost of high end revs
I was lead to believe that best choices were a JL3 or a Taffy. Should I be including Dev-Tour or Franspeed in my list or should I just stick with a Clubman?
Thanks!

Look on e-bay there's always second hand pipes Jl3's etc maybe worth a punt , then if it doesn't suit sell on , at least you're not shelling out on new one's. Franspeed has better fixing points and same performance as a jl3. Devtours were prone to cracking but think they have solved there issue's. Taffys are for sale again but are a lot more pricey at around£340! Is the motor standard?

Thanks for the prompt reply! It's going on a ratty Italian GP/dl200 with stage 4 iron cylinder otherwise stock except for electronic ignition...as for the final drive ratio I honestly haven't thought about itbazman wrote:Is the motor standard?
