Hi

My carb has started to throw petrol all over the garage floor when I have started my scoot the last couple of times. Its a sh1/20 carb and the petrol pours out a small hole at the top of the carb

I'm pretty sure this is not that an unusual problem, could it be a degraded tip of the float needle?

It sounds like your float may be sticking

Thanks Paul

Can someone remind me, the new needle tip colour is black or red? Did the colour not change when unleaded fuel was introduced?

The common Jetex one is not the same length so take care, I don't remember if its longer or shorter than the sh1 but an adult will be along in good time

Thanks Monty. Oh and by the way I've got the Luna on the road now, so thanks again for your help with that :)

Thanks. I'm fairly certain I did buy the right one at some point in the distant past so I'll check my other carb and see if it's in that

Check your float isn't sticking on the mounting pin.

Any other ideas what might cause this, both my scoots have decided to start doing this whilst not in much use over winter. I left my petrol on the other day on my GP and later when I took the exhaust off it was full of fuel. Neither carb float appears to be sticking and the float needles are both right in carbs.
