an interesting c&p from a german scooter forum:
loads of sprayed over scooters can be brought back to original pristine condition.
even if you don´t care about it, an orginal condition scooter can fetch 1000.- more
depending on the model and so can save some cash by selling this one and getting another
for the selfmade aerosol-job...
heres a stunning example of a german export-model series II tv175.
(its an early example without indicators.)
it was found on an "auction for everything" , beeing oversprayed in red 20 years ago or so.
all in all in ok condition, the new owner treated the whole scooter with graffiti-cleaner and fine wet sand-paper...
the new owner says that thinners and graffiti-cleaner can be too agressive on some scooters, so try it on non-visible areas first (frame, inside horncasting, etc..).

Wow, that's some serious elbow grease to get it back to original!

I have a ~€60 barn find GS150 (VS4) that has been given the 'Italian blow over' treatment. Hope to get it back to original paint....one day

I'm wondering if thats actually the same scooter. The second picture shows an original stand and grips amongst other things..

Yes, the grips and stand have been changed, but look at the damaged paintwork on the front mudguard, legshields (below & to the right of the badge near the trim) and other places they're in exactly the same place before and after.
