I have encountered a new (to me) problem: shifting from neutral to first while stopped has become difficult.

The cables are fine, so lets not bother with that. The setup:

SIL GP200 cases
All new bearings and seals
16/47 primaries
Innocenti Li150 gearbox
MBD 6-plate clutch (the "old" style with the extended and welded crownwheel)

All was torqued and shimmed correctly. Things ran fine for a couple of weeks and then the problem started. The clutch started slipping when I got on the throttle as well, so I opened it up and found that the clutch bushing had worn, allowing the crownwheel to rock quite a bit. I wasn't sure if that would cause the shifting problem, but that was the only thing that I found.

I installed a new Scooter Loopy clutch bushing, check my shimming and put it back together. Now, after a week of good performance it is getting difficult to shift into first gear again!

Any ideas what is going on?

I had a scoot in with a similar problem. Indian cases, and internals. I ended up replacing the layshaft, sliding dog, gear selector wishbone, shaft and arm with innocenti items and it was much improved. still not completely slick, but the owner got used to very slightly rolling it forward when pulling away from lights etc

first thing i would look at is cable adjustment since it was ok and now its not

Had a simialr problem but mine was not being able to select neutral whilst staionary with engine running. Turn engine off and it would click into gear no probs. Also found getting it into first a bit of a lottery, felt as though you were stretching the cables as you tried to put it in to first. even the guy at the mobile dyno at Mersea couldnt get it in firsat, so had to hop up and do it myself...very embarrasing...

anyways i think my issue is a 4 plate not being up to the job, so have brought a JB 5 plate and whilst im at it im welding up the handlebar ends to the rod ends, nes cables, rollers and will route out the sleeve for the sleeve as well. Like you i want as easy clucth as poss....will see what i end up with...

my mate had this problem

turned out to be play in the gear selecter shaft/ bush (the one that goes thru the crankcase near the rear wheel).

Now that IS a pig of a job- sorry

I as well suspect the problem may lie with the gear selector shaft. Since I just had it open last week I know the internals are all good.

I need to get new brakes into my CB to make it roadworthy again so I can put this Lammy on the bench... again!

Mark, those cables were the first thing I checked.
