PHBH slides are £23ish from CamLam.

I've got a 28 PHBH on a Mugello 186 and it suffers from 4 stroking below 1/4 throttle. It was suggested that I changed the 40 slide for a 50 to make it weaker at the bottom end.

To be honest I couldn't tell the difference between the two so I think the problem (feature?) may lie elsewhere in the jetting

You can file the profile, but that's a bit of a one-way ticket :|

I made a PHBH 30 into a 40, the bike ran heaps cleaner.
I had a 40 to compare so just filed it to match

the slide cutaway is measured in mm,s
a no 30 slide cutaway is 3mm
40.....4mm
50.....5mm
also a 35 is 3.5mm etc
all you need to have is 2 slides to play with....
leap frog the alterations, that way ..once you,ve gone too far ,you can revert to the previous

try it in half mm increments until you find the optimum... :D

Ive done it on dellorto,s and mikunis, just to get things spot on, i took .5mm off the dellorto,s at a time untill i got it right. the mikuni was a 30mm TMXpj and TBH i copied a mates that ran better than mine and it worked, i had to alter the shape as well as the hight of the cut out. Thats a good idea of Sean,s to have two slides and leapfrog them, never thought of that  .

Where is this measurement taken from? Is it just height thing or do you widen too, and do you increase the rake at the back of the slide (Delly VHSH)?

The angle is increased but the start point remains the same, that is the point at the bottom of the slide is the same, but the cut away is increased in height... I used a belt sander in a vice then held the slide up to it after marking the height on the front of the slide then sanded till it was right finishing on a sheet of wet and dry...

its simply a height measurement of the cutaway.....
place your slide on a level surface and measure to check......
if you already have say a number 40 slide, you will see that the cutaway is 4mm........
if altering to say number 45(4.5mm) or 50 (5.0mm) just follow the original angle.......in other words raise in height, but slash /angle it down to the original width.......
