Reed valves on standard pattern barrels??

Has anyone had any good experience with fitting reed valves to a Rapido or standard barrel - I did fit, back in the day, an NFK reed to a P200 and soon found out what the 'F' stood for, my conclusion was that the reed was too far away from the piston and lowered the primary compression too far although it did have a lot of extra 'tuning'.
I like the idea in theory but is it a waste of time on a Lambretta where the frame goes exactly where the induction should be. Any theories much appreciated.

i,ve just done one
its the AF 175 kit converted to reed valve, with extra boost port and modified piston.
the manifold is a one off,i made it using a 30mm manifold mated to a malossi vespa reed block
the hardest part is getting the reeds as close as poss to piston..
any way,as regards your initial Q..dont forget ....
it was good enough for dave webster on his group 6 ..

Thanks for the reply, I've got an RD barrel and was going to weld the reed block to a CDC manifold, or in fact straight onto the barrel, I've got a friendly ambitious welder, but don't want to go through all the :flaming: that I did years ago.
I reakon the RD might be too big so maybe there are other options - because of the space it's a matter of how big the compromises are.
