whats the general thouhts of high octane fuels in scooters, beter to use the bog standard stuff or go for the 97-8 octaine stuff?

just read on another forum about the higher octaine fuels making the oil % in 2 strokes less ?

The higher octane fuels burn slower and will keep the motor cooler. If motor is tuned I would use a higher octane fuel. The problem with pump fuel from garages is just how consistant the octane level is. There is no telling at the road side really. So you dont know if the 95ron stuff is really 95. Likewise the same can be said for 98 as it could be only a real 96 or 97 but my reckoning there is more chance of keeping the motor safe by using the higher octane in the first place.
Race bikes use avgas because its much more regulated and therefore consistant. You can crank up the advance for a bit more power,sure but this is as I said higher octane fuels burn slower.
