Long shot but after breaking down 5 times on the way to work this morning, can anybody help.
Just rejetted the card so thought it was a problem there, so fiddled about and it kept starting and running for about 2-3 miles then dying again. The last time I had the plug out and realised there was no spark, fiddled with the wires from the rectifier and it started again for the last time and for about 30 seconds. Then that was it, so I'm presuming it must be a problem there or maybe something loose in the stator? when it's kicked over the lights still come on, so theres power but just not to the spark plug. Do people agree ie. more likely the regulator.
I'm just worried as it was running for a few miles before stopping if I change the rectifier it may still run for a while but the problem could still be there.
Any thoughts. Cheers

sounds like you have a couple of problems
I dont think its the rectifier/regulator but you need a multi meter to check that.
dying after a couple of miles, then a couple of miles, then a couple of miles, etc etc. sounds like fuel starvation. any crap in fuel line/ tank or float bowl,,, any kinks in fuel line ??
however firing up then no spark after only a few seconds sounds like ignition problems, just have to go through all components one at a time cheking the quality of all items and connections, if you are using a points ignition check that the points are clean and correctly gapped etc.

I thought fuel at first, so checked all that with the carb. It's electronic ignition and my feeling is kind of with the coil, coincidence it's the easiest to change, I've got a spare so will try that first. I just wondered if it was the stator wouldn't that affect the lights aswell. Electrics aren't my strong point.
The stator has separate coils for lighting and ignition. If it's electronic remove the green, coming up from the stator, from the CDi (coil) Kick the bike over and hold the green on the frame (you may want to wear a rubber glove!) if a spark is present, the stator is probably O/K.

Basics first - remove the green wire that comes from the loom - leave the green from the stator connected though - this will eliminate loom / ignition / kill switch.
If it aint broke.........tinker with it.....

Try the CDI, sounds similar to problems I have seen in the past, check the earth wire on it, make sure it's intact at both ends particularly where it enters the unit or possibly breaking down internally when it gets warm, also easier to change than the stator.
