R1 shock convertion

Hi Ive always used the Escort shock for years as there cheap and do the trick ive found-- but found when you two up and all the gear on the back it just not stiff enough and you get exhaust grounding problems if you come across a pot hole. Now whats these R1 convertions like --- spring seems easy enough to get hold of but where do i get the bushes from to convert it for a lambretta --??

Welcome to the world of constantly evolving Lambretta R&D .......and its thanks to this forum and the friendly folk on it that you are about to leap to the top of current thinking......as a rider who has suffered a snapped shock I await the replies with baited breath...... smoothed nylon bushes, half nylocs backed off etc etc.
Seriously thou, take their advice if you gonna fit one.

Not tried an R1 shock but have you considered the Hagon shock fromm Just lambretta. its adjustable so you can wind it up for two up riding etc.and in my opinion a bloody good shocker.

Ive recently gone down the R1 shocker route and Ive gotta say Im impressed.. :mrgreen: , gone is the wafting, lolling ,drifting and god dahm bottoming out associated with standard shocks, after fitting mine I went on a test ride and tested it to the max over speed bumps and pot holes (something we all avoid most of time) and I am impressed very impressed, my car has all singing all dancing lower and stiffened suspension (as standard) and at times is harsh over bumps although it does stick to the road like s**t to a blanket and I would liken it to this.

Theres 2 guys on here who R1 shocks is there trade, Shocky (steve from chelmsford) and chiggy (from grimsby) who I talked to before taking the plunge and both know there R1 shocks inside out, I used chiggy just because living in Hull it was close to me but I would trust in both as many others on here have.

Got mine from Shocky, with the nylon bushes as I thought might have a bit more give than brass bushes, fitted with mbd nylocs so as not overtightened. every adjustment you could want, compression, rebound, preload. excellent piece of kit at very good money. absolutely no doubt of the increased stability. recommended. the guys will also advise you on spring weight depending on your own and riding style.

I believe so, the issue is how the reservoir is mounted, either in-line or horizontally, which can cause clearance problems on scooters with panels.
but wait for someone to come along and confirm that...

You can get some R6 shockers that have the same reservoir direction as the shock, not 90 deg. opposed (which look trick on cutdowns IMO) plus they are also slightly shorter than the R6 by a few mm which may be just enough if your frame clearance is tight.
