GP150 - Respray Price

I have a GP150 that needs respraying. The frame is good and there is minor work to do on panel filling, etc.
A sprayer (who was recommended by another sprayer who couldn't do it because he couldn't do metallic pearlescent) quoted me £600-£700 to give it a "good job". I thought the price had increased when he saw that I arrived in a 2008 Jaguar X Type!
£600-£700 seems a lot to me but I don't have any benchmark price to compare.
Can anyone give me some idea of what I should expect to pay, assuming that I have stripped the old paint off first?
Thanks
Dave

my advice to you is to shop around, and also bear in mind that the cheapest job is very rarely the best job.........
as with most things.........ultimatley you get what you pay for......
for eg ,cheap chrome......looks great for a couple of months, then flakes off..

To be fair that is not a bad price, if you want it doing well and he has been recommended and more importantly you can afford it then go for it. I'd always say spend as much as you can afford on paintwork, the standards really do improve with the amount you spend.

I reckon a grand is about right for a proper job, including remedial panel work.

and whatever you do don't let on what it'll be worth when it's finished! I did this and I could see him upping the price in his head

i would say thats about right.......for a quality job,
thats near enough what i have to charge ......although they all differ somewhat..
some cheaper ,some maybe slightly more.....
its hard to come up with an average cost simply cos there are so many variables in the equation.......
but i would like to say that on average I put on twice as much paint ,6/7 coats instead of the usual 3 (which takes me twice as long ,extra labour) as the cheaper jobbies..........and so use twice the amount money wise as per paints and materials................

Just remember..you get what you pay for in this life..If he`s not done scooters before he might be inclined to waf it over cause thats what he does to patch up cars, ask to see what he is working on at that min and you can get an idea of his quality . might be best trying to find someone local to you that does scooters or bikes as they understand what it means..not that wont rip you off if they get the chance. where abouts do you live maybe someone on here can help or know someone.
