Trick for recovering speedo cable nut?

What's the best way of retreiving it apart from turning the bloody scooter upside down or taking the forks out?
As usual any help gratefully received

I couldn't have said it better. THIS WORKS! Also when you get it out, what you should do is put a zip tie under it so it will not happen again.Soulpunk wrote: ...or take some fat grease and put loads of around the top of your cable-outer.
then pull carefully on the lower end of the cable,-from the forks-u-bent, that the heavy greased end is on the bottom of the steering column where the ring is. then push up carefully and grab it.
from now on use a little cable clip...
