hello all i have just fitted a bgm stator all went well (i thought) until i tried lights nothing.
i thought i had an indian flywheel but its an af,now i have just read that mb does not recommend using one if so why .
i have checked the stator with a multi meter all readings are good as in stickys book, must admit electricery is a bit of a black art to me
any help or comments welcome.

gp200 non battery,ducati regulater vespa cdi, just disconnected all four wires connected battery to loom forword all lights and horn works so all conections are good.
would this just be down to flywheel?

As far as I know, the only problem with the AF flywheel is that it sometimes rubs on the stator or the bolts holding it on. I think that electrically its the same as normal. Mine just fitted straight on with no adjustments at all (although that was with an Indian Stator)

it's annoying the lights were ok before,oh well should have known better after all it's a lambretta

I'd try the stator output connected directly to the loom (although don't rev it too high). If it works then, the reg must be faulty. If it doesn't then it's the stator, although you may simply have trapped a wire behind the stator and shorted it.

I always set up the electrics using a battery charger to provide the power. Just pull off the wire connected to the main 12V output from the regulator and connect the +ve of the battery charger to it (earth the -ve). That way you can check all of the wiring without worrying if the stator or regulator is faulty. It also has the advantage that you don't have to have the engine running. If everything works like that then it has to be a generation problem not a wiring fault.

Bright man, never thought on that. In fact I nearly killed my mates' scoot cause I started it up and the throttle cable was stuck. It hit the wall racks with all my utensils at 10mph... Still shaking from it.

i think it was down to earth tried old fashioned method grabed hold (That woke me up )
anyway must get new headlight bulb reved to hard but all working good now.
