Ball park figures....
When I bought my S1 a few weeks ago it came with a rebuilt series 2 150 engine - completely standard but with a 175 piston / top end
The guy who put me onto the scooter wants to buy the engine, as it is the original engine out of a Series 2 he is restoring
I dont mind selling the engine, as the only bits I want is the gearbox / bottom end and I have a gearbox anyway... but what is it worth?
It has a side casing, but no exhaust or carb or rear hub
Any thoughts on its worth?
Cheers,
db
Whats it worth?

if this man pointed you towards the scooter and spare engine you are in his dept, sell him the spare engine at a low price that you can afford,if it was such a rosy deal give him it as a finders fee!
dont fall out over it!

Well I wasnt going to rip him a new one!
There is a few bits I would have taxed for my motor, which I would need to buy new...
I was just after a guideline as its not something I would buy myself!

i bought one for £80 last week but its spanish the upside is it has the italian type 150 box exactly the same amount of teeth on the loose gears and the cluster
the rest of the internals are A1 exept the crank and top end the clutch spocket is the old type so no good for me the chain is good as are the mag flange and the later type s3 side case ive bought about 20 engines in the last 4 yrs or so most for the gearboxes and paid anywere between £30 and £100 the engines are good for transplant bits on new indian cases one of which im building now ive stripped every last bit exept the side case studs then sold the bare case for £15 what bits do you need i might have some italian internals knocking around i normally get pretty good prices for the innocenti stamped stuff at fairs
