Just fitting my Muggy 186 on my li 150 case ,original studs too short ,thought it was a case of bolt on with no problems, anybody else had this problem.
Cheers Ian
yep, now you say, i do recall being concerned about that too...
then the problem I had was that some longer studs were not proper rolled ones, rather that the thread was just cut into a bit of rod, so the diameter of the plain part was slightly too big for the barrel to slide down the studs into the casing...
So I had the barrel holes opened out ever so slightly [at no cost by the dealer i bought the kit from], and then used Vespa PX200 studs, which are rolled and plenty long enough.
"bolt on with no problems" ~ if only...
Are you sure you don't have a Li series 1 casing? The barrel studs are longer on all casings after series 1 Li.
Simple way to check if it is series 1 Li, if the engine does not have an oil thrower disc under the primary drive spline then it is series 1. No problem to remove studs and replace with a later type (local scooter shop should have some second hand ones).
Also look out for your head cowling, if this was the original head cowl from that engine it will be too short when offered up over the new kit.
It happened to me with my early series 3 spanish casing. The barrels used on this early engines were smaller than later series 3 barrels, so the cilinder studs are also smaller. I just bought new ones from SR.
