Internals suggestions?

A crack has opened up in my casing running vertically down from the engine number as you look at it from side on.
Its about a cm long and oil comes out when the engine becomes hot, but you can barely see it. It then runs down the back of the case and pools in the metal splines where the hub sits and then i lose the back brake completley... :? . Have grooved the outside and put some liquid metal in but in only lasted a couple of weeks so its going to have to be ally welded. This will mean completely stripping the the whole lot and as this conicides with a shoulder op i thought i might as well do the rebuild as well as possible as it will be a while until i can ride again.

With all this in mind i thought it would be intresting to see what people would reccomend, seals, bearings, chain and so on wise when buying new parts? I have an rb in there at mo and am going to have it tuned at some stage so im thinking along those lines parts wise.

So whats good out there and are there any new must haves.. :D

Just got hold of a JB 5 plate clutch so that will defo be going in....Looks a quality bit of kit...

RB what? 20, 22, 25, etc?

What bits are already in there?

Gearbox, clutch, chain, guide, bearings, seals, mileage covered etc?

ah yes, okay its an RB20 with the following

Weiss chain
32 delly
Taffspeed crank, indian i believe
18 x 47
5 plate JB clutch
NK mid pipe
12 volt
AF lightned flywheel (not super light one, normal one with some weight removed)
BGM rear shock

Will also be tuned by JB before final rebuild, not sure exactly what magic they will be doing but have been told by them approx 3 hours in porting room and 3 hours labour. Said they would expect extra 3-5 bHP on an RB20 after doing there thing..

Hope that helps...

It all look pretty good to me, just pay attention to details.....as its all split, may as well uprate main bearings and seals etc...also the oil-seal retaining plate, and chain slipper....use quality parts as its a performance engine, and its all split etc....bumps up the final bill, but cheaper to do it now rather than later.

Also...what gearbox? Any close ratio, GP200, Li150- etc type should be fine....no big gasp/jumps etc....as long as right sprockets are used!

;o)

Going to use an AF close ratio box in mine, same final ratio 5.22 as GP 200. with 18 x 47sprockets.
MB racetour rear hub bearing, SIL layshaft, IWIS chain, SKF 6305 explorer bearing, FAG NU2205, rolf & MB viton seals.
MB crownwheel (uses bearings not bush), Foxhat spider, 6 green plates, MB pressure plate. Might try one of the LTH chain adjusters that pushes chain down instead of up. Still undecided on wether or not to use the AF RB20 crank.

Was thinking of getting some MB internals, can you point me the right direction for the explorer bearing and rolf seals? Whats the thinking behind chain adjuster pushing down?

Here's the gen on the chain adjuster.

All the bearings and seals should be on the MB website.
SKF 6305 explorer bearing....http://www.lambrettaspares.com/sparepar ... b0031.html
Oil seals........http://www.lambrettaspares.com/lambrett ... rings.html

ha looking at both sites, mb mark up must be like 300% at least, i got all my bearings and seals from a bearing shop as all the scooter shops take the p155, same bearings 1/4 of the price
