Anyone had any issues with the JL Mufflers the newish type with the 3 stud fasters, i've had two this year on JL3s on different scoots that seem to have got louder and louder after a long rally . like the wadding in the muffler has gone , any one got any suggestions i know tyou can re pack them but is it common on these to get louder ??
Also anyone got any tips or where to get the packing from or tips when re packing etc ??
Cheers Toddy

As my Dad used to say "Each to their own lad"
sorry ...bolts.
i think because of the strange solid mounting bushes the pipe rattles to bits and the end can bolts fall out.

Do you mean the three that hold the muffler on as they are fine and the rivets as well holding the muffler together are fine matecezeta wrote:sorry ...bolts.

yes those three. then i would be thinking that the wadding is either wet oily or just not very good.
in contrast i have just been comparing a kegra pipe which has been re packed by cambridge lambretta and my jl3 to see which i prefer.
performance asside the kegra has a much nicer quiter tone and the jl is border line vw muffler clubman sounding. so maybe they are just a bit povo with the choice of wadding.
i would have kept the kegra on but its a race pipe and not what i want power wise.

The tip is with the wadding is not to pack it too tightly.
If you get no joy I have some Acoustafil laid around somewhere...Toddy wrote:
