Hi all,
just wondering if someone could push me in the right direction regarding some gearing options for my standard GP150.
At the end of the year I hope to move up to a 175cc conversion and later to a alloy kit, say a Mugello, but thats later.
I'm after a set up that will get me to speed a lot quicker than now..I can squeeze out 95km but it take's sooo long to get there.
As gearing ratios etc., confuse the crap out of me, I'm hoping someone can help.
My scoot at xmass time will be;
GP150
175 iron conversion+porting
sito ancillotti
varitronic
tm24
std wheel size
std box and sprokets
I hope to keep my standard box, just keep costs down(for now)
cheers

the standard box is the problem,if the correct gear ratios are fitted it helps the engine get to speed without the huge drop in revs (out of the power range or 'off the cam')so if you can keep in this power range with the gearing you will get to the higher speed much faster,i would recommend a close ratio gearbox from 'af rayspeed' or 'mark broadhurst' mbdevelopements,they both have good ratios but most boxes use a higher first gear depending on how you have the sprocket ratios this enables you to have a long first gear then the rest are much closer,bad thing is if you have a lot of hill starts you will need a good clutch to help get you rolling,
i recommend the af that gives gp 200 top gear 18 tooth drive and 46/47 rear clutch if you find the top gear is low try 19 tooth front sprocket,
